Waiting Til Next Year - A Trade Post

 P-Town Tom recently dropped a loaded bubble mailer on me and it hit pretty much all my collecting interests.

Plenty of prospects like this new to me Dansby, my first Team USA card of his. 

He dropped all the base cards of players in the Braves system on me from this set plus these Longevity parallels.  

Boom! This guy's cards are stupid high right now so a base plus a parallel are a big addition to my small PC of the fellow Marietta boy. 

Tom also hit my other main collecting  interest - Oddballs. Love that Justice,  I had never seen one like it before.

Tom sent me a good amount of '93t Braves, making me realize how few I had and that I need to finish my want lists.. the guy must be telepathic. 

The Klesko is another team set need. The Opening Day Smoltz was new to me as well.

Bubba's Bangin' Batch of Nachos Grande - A Trade Post

Happy St Patrick's Day, here's a card I fittingly got in the mail today. I won it with other cards to curb shipping cost angst. It will find it's way into a Reds collectors mailbox soon...

Getting to the point, Matt aka Bubba  from BBBOBB sent me a surprise bubble mailer full of Braves recently. I guess he's trimming the fat to make room for 2016 Allen & Ginter as I know he collects Braves too. I'll gladly take them!

I wonder if anyone actually ever plays Topps Attax. I remember seeing these on shelves at the time but I believe they've been replaced by Topps Chipz or some other wacky mispelled gimmicky product.

Speaking of gimmicky products, Matt also sent this pair of 1990 Topps Big cards. Again Topps is still up to these same tricks though under a different name and with larger cards that happen to be serial nuimbered. Things never change.

Chris from Nachos Grande also sent me a loaded package last week knocking 16 cards off my 2015 Stadium Club want list.

Here's three of my favorites, great shot of the Rocket in the middle even if i'm not a fan of his. Another great photo showing the classic Les Expos uniforms and a guy I'm starting to collect, Lakeland boy Chris Sale and his wacky delivery.

I don't think i'd ever gotten one of these Topps Attax cards in a trade package before and boom 2 different packages containing them showed up last week, I needed that Maddux for my team set build,

Kevin! A Card Papoy Christmas

Kevin from The Card Papoy was cleaning out his collection recently and offered up some cards to the cardsphere for a simple comment.. Since it's Christmas I decided to pick out some of my favorites he sent and match them up with characters from Home Alone, my second favorite Christmas movie right behind Die Hard and right in front of Jingle All the Way.

If you don't like this movie  you are either much older or much older than I am. Either way if you haven't seen it go watch it now.

Just like if you haven't watched J-Hey here play much baseball you should rectify that immidiately. Kevin was nice enough to send over this refractor #'d/500

 

This Studio card of Ron Gant is great even though he's missing his hat. A much larger hat is behind him.

Much like Joe Pesci's hat is now burned into his skull.

What? You knew it was coming but still...

My daughter stole the Bieber almost as fast as Kevin's parents left him at home in the movie.

Stadium Club inserts?? Yes please, this Glavine "Quick Start" card was sadly missing from my collection for far too long.

I declared these the best looking relic cards in the game just the other day and this Hudson did nothing to change that. Great looking card.

2 Upper Deck sets I never see in Florida but the Papoy had stashed away in France.

Again 2 Stadium Club sets I neverrr see.

Tired of Home Alone yet? Ok I promise just one more.

Flair cards are so nice, would love to find a box of this stuff that wasn't stuck together.

I didn't do a count as to see what percentage of Upper Deck cards were sent overseas to me but the majority of the ones I picked out to show were Upper Deck, we need to get a petition to get them their MLB license back.

I don't think I had any of this set.

In addition to team/player lots, Kevin listed a bunch of sets and I almost request Collector's Choice as it one of my favorites of all time. No matter he packed a bunch of good ones in anyways.

Ripping Packs - Football Edition

OK I know most of you come here for the baseball cards but I collect football as well so your just gonna have to deal with it.. I've been doing pretty good on my "no retail" policy i've been trying to implement on myself but every once in a while a new product comes out I want to sample.

I picked up a blaster of the Rookies & Stars from Target and a single pack of Donruss at my monthly card show. Let's see what I got.

Here's the parallels I pulled, no interest in any of these guys so if you need them or know anyone who does let me know and i'll let them go for a song.

Here's the promised manu-relic that comes in every box. Again no allegiance to either player or the Ravens. What the hell happened to the Ravens anyway, the NFL is a funny league this year with the Packers losing 3 straight, the Bears playing really well lately and the Texans ending the Bengals undefeated streak.

Anybody collect Bucs, they've surprised everyone a bit this year I'd say with a 4-5 record already doubling their win total from last year.

Rookies & STARS! Oh I get it! These are probably the best 2 teams in the NFC, the Falcons play them 3 of their final 7 games so we'll find out if they go to the playoffs and are worthy of being there over that span. Cam should win MVP and I am not a Cam fan at all just don't think Brady should get it with his weapons, defense and coaching that he gets year after year. The Panthers would have 2 or 3 wins with any other QB.

This guy looks to be running away with rookie of the year unless another SEC player (shown later in this post) outlasts him.

Crusade makes another appearance, this design seems to pop up in all kinds of releases but i'm not complaining as I think it looks great.

I seem to have terrible luck pulling Falcons out of packs but got these 2 rookies to beat the odds. All in all I like this product but probably won't buy anymore retail of it this year.

On to the Donruss!

Here's the base card - My favorite one, I didn't actually pull this one I ordered the team set online.

I like this design but am not going to go crazy and chase the set or anything, I'm kind of anti border so these don't do too much for me. 

OK here's the inserts I pulled out of my pack - Jordy Nelson... poor guy always hate to see a guy get hurt before the season even starts even if it is a guy on a team I really don't like.

Closing it out with a nice looking card of the only other rookie of the year candidate to me. This guy and Derek Carr are really lighting it up out west and I'd say they are another surprise team in the league this year and are right in the wild card mix.
