Brad's Cards - On the Move

Brad's Blog had a moving fire sale and was giving cards away by the boatload as seen elsewhere on the cardsphere. Of course i'm never one to turn down Braves cards so I signed up and got my package sometime last week.

There were tons of cards inside including this '63 Lou Johnson. I have only 2 or 3 other '63s so this one was definitely my favorite. To be honest I didn't know much about Mr. Johnson so of course I went to trusty dusty google and now I NEED one of these... James T. Elder Postcards

Ok sorry for that tangent.. also inside were more modern cards such as this ridiculously shiny Huddy. The Auburn man and Georgia native called it a career after the 2015 season, farewell Huddy!

SILVER AND GOLD!

Brad sent not one but 2 of these shiny beauties of Hammerin' Hank. I had the Spahn and Smoltz from this subset but not these, thanks man!

I need to make a custom of this.

More shiny with this 1995 Score parallel..

This Futuristics Bruce Chen..

And this first class photograph of a really nice looking Fred McGriff card.

Closing out the shiny with this gang of X-Fractors from 2012 Topps Chrome

More awesomenes with this bat relic of Rafael Furcal.

Some sweet 90's inserts

I never saw a Chipper I didn't like.

The guy on the left is about to get PAIIIIDDDD the guy on the right is one of only 2 members of that 2011 team.

Thanks for all the awesome cards Brad, I've already got some cards set aside to send back your way just need to put the finishing touches to make it a proper Moving In Package.

Cards From Across the Border

Made my first trade with Douglas over at Sportscards From The Dollar for some cards off his Archives want list

In return he sent me some Archives I was looking for. Freddie Freeman your our only hope.

I don't have too many Ty Cobb cards and this one's a great shot. Frank Thomas looks huge in this photo another Georgia Peach. This was my first card of Jason Heyward in Cardinal red. Shelby's working out well in that trade I suppose...

Doug said he was sending some bonus cards, these white frames GQs are awesome, I love these framed parallels. Simmons looks like he needs the All Star break and hopefully we'll get our #3 hitter back not too long after that.

He also said he'd throw some Lightning cards in the package as well and did he ever. This super thick serial numbered Stamkos from Panini Prime looks like it was made to be autographed in gold ink, may have to give it a shot as they practice right down the street from my house.

This die cut looks awesome scanned, sometimes my scanner kills cards but this one really pops in digital form.

More Stammer, hopefully Stevie Y can lock him up for the future. I always liked Teddy Purcell who's now in Edmonton still being the same solid player.

A couple Bish cards for the collection here, it will be interesting to see what the Lightning do with Bishop's contract expiring after next year and Andrei Vasilevsky (20 y/o) waiting in the wings.

....of Tampa Bay goaltenders.

Unfortunately I don't have any of Andrei's cards to show here but I do have this awesome relic of the departed Brett Connolly Doug sent over.

These weren't even all the Bolts cards he packed in the mailer! Thanks for the memories and the lopsided trade you demanded to New York Marty, we've got Cally (and a Cup) thanks to you.

Another National Hockey Card Day card from a trade, the Pinnacle is in French as well and boy am I tempted to peel that Dino.

Doug didn't stop there though he made sure to hit all 3 teams I collect and sent over these 2 from '15 Score, I've bought two of the $5 50 packs from Target and gotten zero Falcons so these were much needed. If anybody I trade with collects football as well I have some cards for you I just sorted all my old football cards by team.

Thanks again for all the cards Doug, I will be getting something together for you when I get back from purgatory aka Fort Lauderdale.

Chopped Up: The Final Chapter

I posted a week or so ago about a small flat rate box that Steve over at The Card Chop sent over, there was so much great stuff in the box I decided to split it up into 3 posts. Here is the final one covering the newer cards in the box, these really packed a punch:

Pretty sweet throwback swatch relic card of Freddie Freeman from last year's Opening Day set.

An awesome commemorative patch card of Justin Upton from 2013 Topps.

Another commemorative patch card this one from 2011 Series 1 of the old black tomahawk, super cool. I had seen these on the blogs before and wasn't impressed especially since they count as a box hit instead of an actual relic or autograph but these are super nice in hand.

Some serial numbered Heywards - The Marquee isn't numbered but the Topps is /2010 and the Bowman is /250! Looking at the 2010 Topps and Bowman side by side you can see it's the same AB in spring at least I think. Same catcher, same guy in blue wearing sunglasses in the background. I had never heard of Topps Marquee before this package showed up I guess it's like Museum Collection, Tribute and all the other high end Topps products it pops up and disappears from year to year.

Steve packed an assortment of Kimbrel in there. I miss this guy

Topps Lineage died I guess? I know i've seen a lot of collectors fawn over it and it seems like a solid set, bring it back Topps!

Almost every team has a former Braves player on it it seems, Charlie Morton started against us on Saturday in Pittsburgh. Teixeira is tearing it up this year now that he's finally healthy again and Derek Lowe as much as he was overpaid basically carried the 2010 Braves to the playoffs.

Another set Topps should bring back around - Turkey Red, I love these cards.

SD, SD,STL,DL,SD,HOU
Where are they now? On the flip side maybe Pinnacle should've stayed dead, at least without a license these don't look too hot but hey I'll take a new Freeman any day of the week.

Thanks again for the package Steve, I am slowly working on a package for you.

Just when I though I was done sorting Braves cards into my collection John from Johnny's Trading Spot dropped this on my doorstep..
