Flea Market Round Up VII

Here's the rest of the cards from last weekends trip to Oldsmar Flea Market. I strolled upon a table full of Phillies stuff and signed 8x10s (the top one was Maddux as a Cub) when all of a sudden something caught my eye.

Spahn!

Mathews!

Both were encased in this display case with a $20 price tag. I recognized Mathews auto right away and the man said he had gotten it TTM from Eddie himself when he was still alive. The Spahn I was less certain about but it seemed legit enough for me to plunk down 20 bucks for 2 deceased Braves Hall of Famers. They're still in that crummy case and I'm

Remember the greatest dime box ever from last weekend, well that same guy had another pretty decent dime box...

Guyyyyyy

Found these odd shaped hockey cards in there as well, about the size of a business card.

Here's the back.

O-Pee-Chee Potvin.

Couldn't leave these Obaks behind for a dime a piece. Let me know if you need that Stanton Gavin.

Venditte coming at you from both sides.

Finally here's a couple of cool reprints I nabbed. As always thanks for reading.

Flea Market Round Up VI - Vintage Food Issue Mania

Stopped by my local flea market yesterday right before they closed and went straight to the card dealer. He had a bunch of grocery bags full of cards that he had just bought. He was going through one full of basketball cards so I dug into one that had bazeball and pulled this bad boy out.

An uncut Hostess box bottom of three cards still intact.

I then started to pull a bunch of clean Kelloggs cards out. At this point he put all the basketball cards he was sorting back in the bag and told me for ten bucks I could take all the bags...

I now have 6 grocery bags full of cards to go thru, 5 baseball, 1 basketball. Yikes.

I haven't gone through them all yet obviously but here's some of the Hostess cards I pulled out by skimming thru.

Schmidt!

I love the 70's

I got just a few Kelloggs cards, most in really good shape. Stay tuned to see what else I pull out of THE GROCERY BAGS!

Thanks for reading.

Flea Market Round Up Pt. 3

As is every Saturday I woke up and asked my brain what it wanted to do. Well my brain is rather predictable and I ended up at the flea market as per usual and found myself on the garage sale aisle.

Where I saw this '61 Spahn staring at me from its glass case prison amongst Penthouse magazines, cigar boxes and old zippo lighters. I asked the gentleman how much and got nervous when he reached for his dusty Beckett behind him...

I acted quickly and picked up this well loved '53 Mathews and he put the book down and started to tell me stories about Eddie. We talked for a while about the Braves and other baseball legends and eventually he told me I could have both for $8. Which for me was plenty fair for my first vintage Spahn and this fine piece of art

Moving further down the garage sale aisle,  which I don't usually go down, I found a large box marked 5/$1 which I began to pick thru and plucked this trio of O-Pee-Chees.

Also grabbed the Braves big three but in the wrong uniforms out of those same boxes. The Glavine is a refractor and the Smoltz just looks wrong to me.

Also snagged these 3, the Konerko is up for grabs if anyone wants it. I always thought he was a White Sock for life. The Kevin Brown cards were just too goofy to leave behind.

What's the point of a Flea market if you don't pick up a couple of oddballs. These 2 are up for trade as well.

Ooooh shiny, that Neagle is blinding.

Keeping this one short like my trip to the flea market this week, I'll close it out with a couple die cut Chippers I picked up from those same five for one boxes.

RIP Monte, pulled this from a pack back in July.

Flea Market / Card Show Scores

Most of these are leftovers from the card show I went to last weekend but it was at the same flea market I went to today so we'll just bunch them together and call it even:

Pulled this out of a dime box, had never seen these photo negative style/acetate Leaf inserts before so I grabbed this one of the Hall of Famer.

Another clear/acetate 90's insert, this one from Skybox. Another Canadian team too.

Grabbed this Michael Tucker auto out of a dollar box, strangely serial numbered on the back.

Sticking to the 90's here's some Andruw cards I grabbed out of the dime boxes.

Gold, shiny... a little bit of everything.

I think the frequency of his wearing of high socks factored into my love of Andruw as a kid.

Some more from the dime box - I'll probably put that Maddux bobble head thing together eventually

Grabbed a couple of these Postseason Heroes inserts out of '13 Update, one foil one regular.

Didn't see Mr. Justice in there but he's still my hero forever!

Grabbed these inserts from '15 Series 1 at 5/$1

This one's from Series 2 is rather boring but had to grab it for the 2 legends.

Busted a couple blasters of Opening Day and didn't get any of these, now I have all 3 for 60 cents!

Insert mania! Heyward is finally BREAKING OUT but in St. Louis, having his best offensive year since 2012. Grilli was not FIRED UP about giving up the winning run in Pittsburgh on Friday night.

Rainbow foil Opening Day of Jonny Gomes, I try to add cards of guys on the roster as much as I can but haven't got too many of his or A.J. Pierzinski yet. I'm trying guys

Cakes was a questionable signing at the time but he's done nothing but hit .300 although not for much power as he sits on exactly zero homeruns on the year.

Gotta love these National Chicle cards.

Picked up this auto of newly acquired reliever Chris Withrow out of the same dollar box - The Braves just drafted his brother earlier this month, I believe Chris is recovering from Tommy John so the Braves had to get him in the Juan Uribe/Alberto Callaspo trade. John Hart loves guys recovering from injury it seems.

Had to pick up this Duke Ellington '75 style card, I own most of his records so I had to pull the trigger at $5/1

These were the other 4 I got with the Duke, one of these is not like the others. Get out of there Kelly!

Closing this post out with a single football card as we inch closer and closer to football season, here in SEC country people are already talking about it so here's a nice Prizm of Julio to end this post.
