Turner Wroster Jenga PWE - A Trade Post

New trade partner!  I sent Tony Burbs from Wrigley Roster Jenga some extra J-Hey cards to congratulate him on his Cubs winning the Jason Heyward sweepstakes. I got his return package last Friday...

There were a bunch of cool cards in the PWE, how can you go wrong with a black and white photo of the late great Eddie Mathews. 

This Spahn '51 rehash makes me realize I need to put the original on my cardboard bucket list. One day Spahny, one day. 

I've passed a few of these Power Players cards onto other bloggers but this is the first Bravo I've come across, even if he is a much richer man 2 teams removed in Detroit now. Enjoy the hot streaks Julie (prepare for equally maddening cold streaks)

One of my favorite parts of Tony's blog is the mass amount of minor league issues he's constantly showing off as part of his ATCR project. He shared the love with these 3 and they were all new to me!

Tony must read my blog, he knows a good base for a trade package is by keeping up with the Joneses'. Both new additions to the PCs.

Oddballs are another frequent subject over at WRJ and these 2 are pretty cool. I have too many of those Showdown cards but this one was a newbie.

Closing it out with a base card? Well yeah it was the only one in the package but it was off my want list!  Thanks for checking that Tony and thanks for all the other great cards, this was our first trade but I'm sure it won't be our last. 

PWE from Jay P

Recently struck up a trade with new blogger Jay P from Cards My Mother Didn't Throw Out. Being another member of the blogger freshman class of 2015, I sent him some Diamondbacks and other wants and he sent some Braves my way. The envelope came on Tuesday but let's bust it open now..

Still love this BMac card even if he is a Bronx Bomber now and this red foil version makes me appreciate this play at the plate shot even more. 

Another guy who switched to the junior circuit, this Gold Maybin marks my 3rd gold 2015 Bravo. He was one of the few bright spots last year this'll go right in his 2015 roster binder spot.

Jared sent me this one pack fresh, I guess he busted some Select at the hobby shop and pulled this Chipper rookie. A new one to me, there are always Chippers to chase.

Collector's Choice! I already have the Maddux to go with this bobblehead card.

Three cards off my want lists! I really need to spend some time on those because it's always great to get cards off there in trade.

I also won this today on eBay! Stoked, glad i'll have extras to take down to Spring Training with me.

Flea Market Round Up Pt. 2

I go to the flea market almost every weekend and my desk is suffering from it.  Time for a photo dump so I can get all these homeless cards into thier proper binders/boxes.

Probably paid too much for this one but damnit I needed it.  A pretty clean copy and just my second playing days Aaron, working backwards here. That said I'm getting pretty close to several of my 70's Braves team sets. 

Grabbed this  '60 Fleer for a buck,  I always associated Sisler with the Browns and I'm ashamed to admit I didn't know he played for my Braves until I plucked this from a box.  This marks my first vintage Fleer card.

MIKITA!  One of my normal vendors had a box full of '74 Topps hockey cards and told me a quarter each. Plucked this one and a few others. 

The Esposito brothers,  love the old school hockey gear on Tony and picking up this Phil makes me realize a PC for the man who brought hockey to Tampa is long overdue.

These guys are pretty good right? How the hell were the Flyers ever in the West? 

Grabbed a few cards of the defunct Atlanta Flames as well. If you have any unloved Flames/Thrashers cards I will give them a home. 

Ok back to baseball, here's a couple of the closest we'll ever get to a unanimous Hall of Famer. 

Speaking of the Hall here's a new minor league card of a guy who will be eligible in 2018 along with Scott Rolen, Jim Thome and Omar Vizquel.

I swear some of these 90's cards were designed by guys still trippin from the 60's.

7-11 3D disk coin thingy of Phil Niekro, I pulled this one and 2 others which i'm sending to others out of a box and asked how much "Free" I guess it pays off to be a Flea market regular. 

Grabbed this SportFlix for a nickle mostly for the Chipper World Series cameo.

Dug thru a giant dollar autograph tub and pulled my first card of the new Brave Jhoulys Chachin who was a sneaky signing by the club. 

Also grabbed my first card of Philip Wheeler who played in about 10 games for the Falcons last year. Didn't even notice it was serial numbered until just now. 

Another guy had a binder full of IP autographs for 2 bucks each. Picked up a Gators and Falcons player just cus.

This is my first card from this insert set from this years last year's Gypsy Queen (how weird is that?) I may have to chase this subset down even if that runner appears to have left before the ball was caught. 

One guy I've been PCing and another I am starting as of... NOW. Stevey Y has done a pretty good job as the Lightnings GM, he deserves it. 

1 buck?  Sure why not? 

The nicknames inserts are awesome,  I'm gonna try and find a box of this stuff to bust. 

This was another buck pickup, a few of these have gone out in trade packages already. Love these oddball sets.

These are old but I never showed them.  Class of '15, 17 & 18. You have to think Pudge goes in with Vladdy and hopefully Tim Raines next year.

Dimebox Trade

I got a PWE in the mail the day after Christmas from the one and only Dime Box Nick. 

This 1988 Conlon Collection of Big Bill James is awesome. A member of the Miracle Braves, I see everybody else doing New Year's card resolutions. Well one of mine is to add some truly old cards. My current oldest is a '51 Bowman I believe. Maybe James will be the first one I try to track down.

This one comes from a 1992 Baseball Card Magazine and is awesome. Really wish card magazines still made cards but that's why they made Dime Boxes and Nick was apparently born to pull gems like this out of them.

Another oddball with this '93 Hostess card of TP who's still with the Braves organzation. This will probably be the card I take with me to Spring, he gave me a ball and signed my daughters. 

Only 46 days til Pitchers & Catchers report 

1, 2, 3 GQ Braves minis. Just 3 years old now and 3 guys not on the team. Such is Braves fandom these days.

This card was a new Chipper card to me. As are the 50 or so sitting on my desk. My new New Year's resolution is to assemble a Complete Chipper Checklist. As I near the 250 mark I'm realizing just how many f****ing Chipper cards there are. 

Some needed 2015 inserts, these cardsare so last year.  Hey another new Chipper card!

Mail Bag: Frickin' Lasers!

 Saw a lot of Chipper cards on Ebay the other day, most of which I didn't have and put a $0.99 bid in. A few days later I had won so for $3.32 with shipping I got a nice stack of new cards of which I only had one. 

This laser cut card I'm sure was a technological masterpiece in 1996.

I had never seen any of these 1995 Pinnacle Clear Shots before this one. Pretty cool card that scanned terribly.

Some sparkly Bowman from '93, '94 & '95. I got 2 of the card on the left if anybody needs it.

The Starquest was the only card I already had out of the whole lot. Collector's Choice was all I could afford with my allowance as an 11 year old and I think 1999 was the last year I bought cards for a long time according to the huge 10 year gap in my collection.

Some nice looking Pinnacle prospect cards, my second ever "Emotion" card and the Topps top prospects I've always wanted but never wanted to pay "book" for are all mine now! 8 year old me is ecstatic.
