F Bombs in my mailbox : Part II

If you didn't know this from reading my blog I am fairly new to the modern card game. When I was last collecting before this year autographs/relics/patches were pie in the sky type dreams. I freaked out when I got an insert of one of my favorite players. Now as the Junior Junkie more eloquently put it the other day I have more income than the $5 allowance as a kid. I actually used to get 1990 Fleer packs instead of allowance and was perfectly happy with it.

This is my first patch, first card numbered to 10 or less and my first Freeman autograph. I got this for a pretty good deal and my picture doesn't do the card justice. I really like the shadowbox/see thru part of the card. I can see myself getting into more and more of this "high end cardboard" now. Thanks alot blogosphere.

This one also came in the mail recently, I won it for like 59 cents plus the cost of a stamp so not bad for a pretty good looking framed shiny insert card. Too bad Freddie will have zero major leaguers in their prime to play with on the diamond. Oh well...

Farewell to the Best Glove in Baseball

Yesterday was a sad day for Braves fans as they traded away the best defensive player in baseball to the Angels for more young pitcing and a veteran SS in Erick Aybar. So in the last 13 months the Braves had traded away 3/4ths of thier 2011-14 core in Simmons, Heyward and Kimbrel. Poor Freddie Freeman... the Braves look to be going into full on rebuild mode Astros style. I'll admit as a kid growing up in the 90's in Atlanta I'm probably a very spoiled baseball fan. Man is it painful to see all your favorites go...

Changing the subject to something less depressing, none other than Primetime! How did I not have this great card in my collection (I know because it's a Reds card) But man this dude.

This "Preview" Upper Deck card of Greg Maddux was one of the coolest cards I found in my most recent flea market trip, which is where all these cards came from.

I had about 3 of the Braves cards from this set and was able to knock a huge chunk out in one fell swoop.

Those black diamond cards are so nice. I guess this /150 Glavine is part of a huge set but it's my first one of this kind.

Picked up this sealed Durham Bulls team set. I think it ran me 2 bucks, gotta love the flea market.

Behold my Vintage Dime Box Scores

Was at my local flea market card show a few weekends ago and was browsing my normal vintage guys boxes when he told me everything on the table I was looking through was 100 for $10. Well he didn't have to tell me twice I dug in and found some beauties. Including this '73 Dock. what a backdrop. Who knows what stadium that is with the huge stairset in left-center.

More '73 love. Love Joe's sideburns in this shot and the Tony Perez has seen better days but can't complain for 10 cents.

Grabbed these 3 of PC Don Sutton, who owned one of the finest afros of the 70's if you ask me.

Eventually I'll get a want list for this set as it's one of my favorites but I'll continue chipping away for now.

More '73 love. The Robinson is an early photoshop special, he's obviously wearing a Dodgers uni. The Oscar Gamble is a great shot and the least miscut of a few I grabbed for a certain Jedi.

Roy Face! These are a little beat yes but they're good enough for me.

Someone punched a hole in you Nellie? That's alright your still welcome at the Jones house for battered vintage cards.

Who could say no to Drysdale for a dime?

My first Mossi, I always had this empty feeling about my collection until those magnificent ears graced my boxes. Now I feel whole.

Grabbed this Willard Schmidt only because I have no other cards from this set and that's my grandpa's first name.

3 iconic pitchers, 3 great looking cards. All in all I pulled over 200 cards out of these boxes with more than half of the vintage variety. I also plugged some holes in my Braves Topps team sets from these sets and more.

F Bombs in my mailbox : Part I

Here's some of my recent ebay winnings. This is my first look at this year's Triple Threads, despite the sticker auto I think it's a good looking card. Picked up this one #'d/99 for about $5.

Nabbed this SP off the bay for $1.20 shipped. Don't have the base but feel I don't need it as bad now that I have this shiny purple version.

Finally I found this Tier One from last year and man is this a good looking card. Looking forward to what Folty brings to the table next year either as a starter or out of the bullpen. Only time will tell unless of course he gets traded which wouldn't shock me either.

Trade: Cardboard Clubhouse

Adam from Cardboard Clubhouse emailed me out of the blue not too long ago saying he had some newer Falcons to send me so we exchanged addresses and set up our first trade.

Adam is clearly a much more organized card blogger/trader than myself. I've been slacking recently but currently have  a big pile of packages ready to go out to my frequent trading partners right now so I am getting back on the horse as they say.

Gotta love Pitchers at the plate and I inexplicably didn't have this Smoltzy so thanks for filling that one in Adam.

Here's the '14 base cards as promised, I needed most of them so they were very welcome. What's not welcome is the way my Falcons have been playing lately. They lost to Blaine Gabbert and company and I was beside myself most of the night trying to figure out why and how... but I guess if you wanna look at the glass half full they've played horribly and are still in a wild card spot at 6-3 going into the bye. If you had told me that before the season started I would've taken it all day long so I will try to remain calm and get ready for a showdown with Andrew Luck and the Colts in Atlanta in 2 weeks.

Adam also sent over this sweet sealed Stadium Club team set which I am now going to crack since i've posted it. That 22 year old air smells nice!

My man, my copy of this card is all beat up as I used to carry it around as a sort of "wallet card" before there was such a thing and long before I had a wallet.

So Many Javy Rookies. This one's great, I think these are my first Pinnacle cards from this year.

Speaking of teams underperforming, here's one of the few Lightning players that's playing well lately.

This team has somehow forgot how to score goals and is letting Ben Bishop down nightly. I have confidence they'll turn it around and make the playoffs but it's been frustrating so far. This also reminded me I need to pick up some of the new UD S1  that just came out.

Gotta go! Thanks for all the great cards Adam and thanks for reading.

Cards from Cards on Cards + Football talk

Cards on Cards posted some Chrome retail he busted when they first came out and we got our first trade together based off this Minor sepia card which looks amazing in the light.

He sent over these as well. I was able to send him most of the Cardinals team set in exchange and already have more Cards lined up to send over.

He also sent over some older cards though they were just as appreciated. Love this Kmart Aaron.

I took several other pictures but they all look like this. If you couldn't tell by now my scanner died a few weeks back and I have been lacking in posting since. Any suggestions on a good cheap scanner?  I have several trade posts to catch up on as well as some great scores I've made recently.

Anyways sorry for the poor pictures but wanted to get a post up thanking Madding for all the great cards, just wish I was able to showcase more of them.

I don't have any new college football cards to post but this is a huge weekend for it with FSU Clemson and LSU Bama having huge implications on who we'll see in the playoff who do you think wins. I'm going with State and Bama. Mostly because I want to crush the Seminoles as much as possible in that last game and play Bama in the SEC title game.

Took this of the future first round pick at the ECU game.

Me and my son at his first football game.

Hope you all have a great football weekend. Go Gators and Falcons!

Quick question

Oh my!! I'm so far behind on posts and trade posts (I haven't forgotten about you guys). I'm sitting here getting ready to watch the Florida-Georgia game and figured I'd post a few new autos I grabbed.

This one came in the mail yesterday, got it for $5 shipped off ebay and it came with 8 of his base card. If you need/want a Mallex let me know.  Looking forward to seeing this kid get a shot at the center field job in spring.

Picked up this mini auto of Loucheiz Purifoy at the flea market recently. Strange he got a Bowman mini as he went undrafted in 2014 but glad to add mini to the Gators collection.

Another flea market score cheap gold refractor auto of the improving 2014 2nd round pick Hageman.

Go Royals!
