Shoebox Trade, Retail Fail Pt. 1 of 987 & A Card Show

I was a little light with my trade post with Jared yesterday, sorry I'm not the greatest of writers but I hadn't posted in a while and was quickly falling behind on trade posts. After this one I'm about to write for Shane I still have 2 more to cover this week, not that i'm complaining. Anyways let's get to the PWE that showed up from Shane at Shoebox Legends. Shane not only has one of the best baseball card blog names of all time he also has been blogging for 9 years..

I guess after 9 years you get the hang of this trading thing. This embossed Stadium Club parallel of Chipper Jones is pretty much everything I look for in a piece of cardboard except...

This acetate beauty knocks it out of the park... Man what a pair of Chippers to start this one off with.

A much needed Teheran minors card, I'm getting closer and closer to 100 cards of Julio in fact I think he's catching up to Freeman in my active Braves PCs,

2 more awesome cards in these 2 Glavines are what fell out of the package next. I have a few of those Gold Label cards but didn't have the Glavine. Same goes for the eX card on the right.

Maybe this card of Stamkos in suit is a sign he's about to sit down and sign the CONTRACT. Just do it already Steven, you know you love Tampa.

Trophies! That Contenders card is #'d/999 and is one of my new favorite Stammers. Thanks for all the great cards Shane! I picked up some nice Red Sox today at the card show for you.

In other news I had some money left over on a gift card for Wal-Mart and fell under the weight of the cardboard itch. Saw this rack pack staring back at me from the checkout aisle and lost control, as you can tell it found it's way home with me.

I regret nothing however as per usual Upper Deck delivers exceptional photography in the base set..

... and with the insert, this Canvas card is beautiful in hand and is on really nice card stock.

I guess I missed those wacky purple Buffalo uniforms last year. I checked out the back of Ovi's card and goddamn he's already got 500 goals, I knew he was good but forgot he was that good. Love the shot of him lounging on the ice too instead of looking angry and shooting.

Another pair of cool photos, let me know if you need any of these guys.

As much as I want to hate that Crawford card for everything it represents, I can't deny it's a beautiful piece of cardboard.s Tanev looks like he's enjoying himself too much in that top photo.

In other other news, I made my way down to the monthly card show today and found this lovely NICKEL box.

Grabbed 76 of this year's Stadium Club for less than 4 bucks. I guess I have to collect this set now, with these and the cards I already had I'm almost halfway there.

All told I spent 25 bucks and walked out with a box full of cards. I'll do another post showing some of them off.  Thanks for reading and following along.

  1. I pulled that same Gionta and Ovechkin out of a jumbo pack. I've got a nice mixed batch to send out to you soon that I think you'll enjoy.

  2. That Bolland is definitely beautiful, as is the Crawford. But, then as a 'Hawks fan, I guess I'm biased to these guys!

    1. I've been waffling on collecting the set but I guess this'll push me over the edge. Kinda wanted to collect a set from the 2015 so now I have one to chase.

  7. Why anyone would let cards from such a beautiful set like Stadium Club go for just a nickel per is beyond me, but, hey, better for us!

    1. Exactly, there so thick the stack of seventy some was almost as tall as a stack of 100+ other cards.
